Neurodiversity SIG - Creating Psychological Safety in Coaching for Neurodivergent Coaches and Clients - 30th July 2024

When people feel safe they are more able to stay calm and think well. If we understand what helps increase client safety in coaching we are more likely to help facilitate better thinking and our clients are more likely to experience transformational coaching.

Neurodiversity is a paradigm that recognises the wide variance in how people process, perceive, and communicate information. If we develop and deepen our understanding of these differences we are better placed to understand our own needs and the needs of our clients. This understanding can enable us to improve the quality of the contracting we do with our clients, enabling us to co- create psychological safety in the coaching work that we do.

This session will include short breaks for reflective practice with the option of reflecting with up to three other participants in a break-out room OR doing some solo reflective writing, depending on which option works best for you.

Guest Speaker
Lynne is an experienced coach and trainer, specialising in working with autistic and ADHD clients. She is a Barefoot-trained ICF credentialed coach and has also completed ADHD-specialist coach training with Gold Mind Academy.

In addition to providing one-to-one coaching for individuals, Lynne is on the faculty at Gold Mind Academy.

Lynne works to promote understanding and acceptance (including self-acceptance) of neurodivergence.

Like many people working in this field, Lynne was drawn to this work through the experience of parenting her neurodivergent children before discovering her own neurodivergence (ADHD) in midlife.

Before setting up her coaching practice in 2019 Lynne worked as a  Speech and Language Therapist with 20+ years’ experience working with adult clients with hearing loss. She remains interested in and curious about what makes communication work well for people who have differing communication needs and preferences.

She is based in Leeds and does her best thinking when she’s walking her dogs in the woods.
