NW Network - Coaching Outdoors - Discovering a Different Dynamic

Where do you work best? … and think clearly?
How does your environment influence this?
What’s your relationship with the outdoors? With nature?

About the presenter

Ann Reid has over 30 years experience from working in healthcare settings in the UK and West Africa. She has a range of qualifications - in coaching, public health and qualitative research. From experience of different cultures, organizational changes and her own leadership journey, she brings a creative curiosity, appetite for adventure, and depth of connection into her coaching.

'I began coaching outdoors 2 years ago and have been struck by the many and varied insights that can emerge when we walk alongside a client. A different dynamic is created, through the physical movement, pace of our steps and talking together in the open air. The coaching space becomes enlarged and enriched as our senses tap into what’s around us in nature. Taking the time to also pause, stand still and notice what’s happening on the inside can potentially be calming, energising and profound. For some of our clients the experience of coaching in natural surroundings will be in sharp contrast to the fast-moving and pressured work environments they inhabit'.

After registration and tea/coffee you will have the opportunity to take a short walk (up to 40 mins) and co-coach, ideally outdoors in the grounds of the University. Please bring with you suitable footwear, warm clothing, raincoat/umbrella … in case needed! Afterwards we will de-brief as a group on how it felt, what you learned, contracting, things to consider, also specific things you can do to help make coaching outdoors work.
