Cambridge Network Event - Gestalt approach to Coaching

On-line and Open to all

Gestalt approach to coaching

As we continue to experience a range of Covid-19 restrictions, now is an appropriate time for all enterprises to review and reflect on what will stay the same in their business operations and what needs or could be different.  As coaches, this time now presents us with a range of challenges and opportunities to reflect on our coaching practice.

Moving from unprecedented times to uncertain times, we need to think about the impact that Covid-19 is having and will continue to have on our coaching practice, whether we are internal coaches or external coaches.  In order to deliver the best service to our clients, our coaching approach might need to adapt.

During this session we will work in small groups and we will use the Gestalt lens of Awareness as the context for experimentation and learning.  We will explore types of Awareness, the concepts of ‘Figure’ and ‘Ground’ and how drawing these into the present moment can help to inform our decisions and actions.  These activities will provide us with some time and space to explore the impact of Covid-19 on our coaching practice and business.

We look forward to welcoming you to this session.

About the Presenter

The session will be facilitated by Dr Gill Stevens, a Gestalt coaching enthusiast, who is Course Director for the Diploma in Coaching programme at ICE, University of Cambridge.  Gill is also a Co-Director of Level Seven, a coaching and design thinking consultancy.

Previously, Gill was deeply involved in the world of coaching whilst teaching in the subject areas of Human Behaviour in Organisations and Design Thinking at the Asian Institute of Management, (AIM) in Manila, Philippines.  Whilst there she was also appointed the Head of the School of Executive Education and worked with many Asian Corporate Clients.

Gill’s PhD subject was the development of intuition within the context of the management problem-solving process and now she recognises, appreciates and values the role of intuition in the context of coaching.  More recently, Gill has decided to revisit her PhD research and is currently developing a an integrated framework of intuition and coaching to help coaches to develop their self-awareness even further.
