The supervision of coaching is a developing field in which there is a broad range of approaches and models. Although professional bodies are increasingly encouraging the uptake of supervision, the question of what is and what isn't supervision, and how it is different from other ways of helping, is still contested. Peter Jackson will help participants explore in what ways supervision might be important for them as coaches and/or supervisors and in particular what might be different from 'just coaching the coach'. What is supervision really for? The session will be useful for coaches who may be looking to engage with a supervisor as well as supervisors who may want to develop a clearer proposition to potential clients.
Guest Speaker
Peter Jackson has been an active practitioner, researcher and teacher in the coaching field for 20 years. He is Director of the International Centre for Coaching & Mentoring Studies at Oxford Brookes University Business School and in addition to academic publications has edited two major collections: 'Coaching Supervision: Theory & Practice' (with Tatiana Bachkirova) and 'Doing Coaching Research' (with Elaine Cox). The session will draw on his experience of helping hundreds of students and practitioners to articulate the principles of their practice.

Paul Heardman is the EMCC UK's Director for Supervision Practice. He has several Masters level qualifications in coaching supervision as well as an MSc in Coaching from Henley Business School. Paul was recently awarded Coaching at Work magazine's 2023 Editor's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Coaching and Coaching Supervision.
