Third Sector Forum - Internal Coaching and Courage - 27th March 2024

Internal coaching and courage – overcoming the barriers to being braver in your practice

Often, as internal coaches, we carry out coaching in addition to our day-job role. There are often power dynamics at play in our coaching relationships and we can face ethical dilemmas that are different than if we were external to the organisation. Alongside these challenges, we are also part of the same organisational system as our coachees and have an understanding and awareness of the cultural conditions within the organisation.

All of these challenges can impact on our ability to be courageous as coaches - we are required to hold the tension of being courageous and feeling vulnerable at the exact same time. In this session we will explore the challenges that we face as internal coaches and consider what holds us back from being courageous in our practice. We will look at the work of Dr Brené Brown and her courage-building skillsets, to discover ways that we can step into our courage and support transformation in our coachees and in our organisations.

If you are an internal coach or responsible for coaching in your organisation, and you want to bring more courage, more compassion, more curiosity and more connection to your coaching work then this session is for you.
