Guildford Regional Network does ‘Strictly’

Well, not exactly, but dancing of a sort was involved when we hosted Georgina Woudstra, Principal, Executive Coach Studio at our summer meeting. Georgina ran a workshop entitled ‘Relational Team Coaching - Daring to Dance on the Edge’. Like all the best workshops it was highly participative and nudged the participants out of our comfort zones from time to time.

The central tenent of relational practice is, basically, this : Relational coaching sees the process of relating – to self, to others, to the organisation - as the key channel of self-expression and as the main vehicle for change. It’s about taking a low control-high risk attitude to team coaching, and ‘dancing on the edge’.

Now, when it comes to dancing of any description, I’m a two left feet kind of guy and found this approach to team coaching a bit challenging to put it mildly - and I think a few other people felt the same way in the beginning. But, by the end of the workshop, I think we all saw how this approach could be used - in the right circumstances - to achieve extraordinary results. A fascinating and enjoyable evening all round.
